Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez is a popular Mexican-American actor, singer and writer. Her family was home-schooled by her mom within the USA. She was subjected to racial remarks and being made to feel unwelcome. After she participated in school contests and received high praise for her singing, in ninth grade, the girl began to feel more confident. This not only increased her self-confidence but also changed the direction she wanted to go in her career. At the age of 22 she was a graduate of the New York's Julliard School. In 1993, she made her Broadway debut with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was called You've Got Mail. Her biggest break came with her performance as The Lady of The Lake, in the original Broadway version of Spamalot. The show won her the Tony Award and received great praise for the role. She gained more recognition for her appearance on Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. A well-known performer, she has also released both songs and plays. In addition, she has been a vocal advocate for LGBT concerns.
